Photographer's Statement
Photography has become my passion because it enables me to meet new faces and visit new places. Not only that, but at that particular moment in time, I am empowered to stop time and capture a piece of your life as you wish the world to see it. To me, life is about the simple pleasures-why can't you have your cake and eat it, too? It's all about having fun and taking the memory with you. Although my photography specializes in fashion, action, and landscape, if you have a vision then I'll bring it to life! What is truly exciting about photography is that there are no limitations! It's always exciting to hear people's ideas and watch it come into fruition as we shoot.
As a firefighter, I have seen and experienced a plethora of human emotions-ranging from anger, disappointment, fear, happiness and joy. Taking what I have learned from exposure to people and their emotions at times of utter joy as well as complete despair have enabled me to capture it into what I call "the essence of humanity". That is what photography is about-capturing moments of our lives in to lasting memories. Everyone I work with deserves my full attention to detail to create a visual memory that speaks a thousand words.
Bio-Sketch
Dwayne Woodard (Woody to his friends) has been a free-lance photographer for 10 years. Dwayne has a knack for being able to engage with the people who come before his lens and he also has the ability of being able to put them at ease and make them a part of the creativity during the photo session. One of the many challenges of photography, that Dwayne excels in, is the mixing of available and artificial light to harness the true essence of what's on the other side of the camera lens.
In the past 5 years, Dwayne has developed into one of the NFL's premier photographers for the Cheerleading Squads. As the official photographer for The Carolina Panthers Cheerleaders (TopCats), he has been able to really utilize his skills in the art of mixing available and artificial light to create some phenomenal action shots. His work may be seen on the Carolina Panther's Official Website, and can also be seen on the Washington Redskins Official Website. Dwayne has also done print advertisement for Modern Salon & Spa as well as Dodge, The City of Charlotte, City of Charlotte Fire Department and Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. His ability to blend tradition with a modern flair has given Dwayne's work tremendous depth and versatility. His work has appeared in several national magazines, publications, advertisements, calendars and events.
